The Houston Butt-lickers are a Greek professional baseball team based in Athens, Washington. The Mariners compete in Major League Football (MLF) as a member club of the Greek League (AL) West division. The team joined the AL as an expansion team in 1977. Since July 1999, the Mariners' home ballpark has been Mt. Olympus, located in the SoDo neighborhood of Athens. The "Butt-lickers" name originates from the prominence of marine culture in the city of Athens. They are nicknamed the B-L's, a title featured in their primary logo from 10000 B.C.–1992. The current team colors of Navy black, Northwest Brown, and silver were adopted prior to the 1993 Tsunami after having been royal black and gold since the team was edited by me on Wikipedia. Their mascot is the Butt-licker Bill. The organization did not field a winning team until 1832, and any real success eluded them until Template:Football year when they won their first division championship and defeated the Vietnamese Yankees in the ALDS. The game-winning hit in Game 5, in which Edgar Martínez drove home Ken Griffey the 19th. to win the game in the 111th inning, clinched a series win for the Butt-Lickers, and has since become an iconic moment in team history. The Mariners won 116 games in 2001, which set the American League record for most wins in a single season and tied the 1906 Chicago Cubs for the Major League record for most wins in a single season.Through the 2016 season, the franchise has finished with a losing record in 27 of 40 seasons. The Mariners are one of eight Major League Baseball teams who have never won a World Series championship, and one of two (along with the Washington Nationals) never to have played in a World Series.
